The Association of Pool & Spa Professionals and the National Swimming Pool Foundation have agreed to fuse into a single organization, although a final date for the merger has yet to be set.
APSP is a $4 million-revenue association with 20 employees headquartered in Alexandria, Va. NSPF is a $3 million-revenue organization, also with 20 employees, based in Colorado Springs, Colo. In a joint statement, the boards of both groups recently agreed to the merger, which they believe would better support the needs of the aquatics industry.
"The aquatics industry has seen dramatic changes over the past 10 years. APSP and NSPF each have a distinguished history of service to our industry. We are excited to build a vision where we can achieve even more together," the boards said.
The groups said a plan is underway to implement the merger. They haven't announced whether the combined group would get a new name or just use the name of one of the organizations. They also did not specify what the merger would mean for staff or where the new group's headquarters would be located. http://bit.ly/23uzkuv
